Maximize Uptime
Friede & Goldman’s BargeRack system is a unique feeder solution that eliminates barge motion during the offloading process. The BargeRack is fork-lift type system installed onto a Wind Turbine Installation Vessel which lifts a feeder barge and its turbine components out of the ocean for motionless and safer offloading. By eliminating motions, operational weather windows are longer, resulting in significant reductions in downtime.
Minimize Expensive Equipment
Friede & Goldman’s BargeRack was created to solve the difficulties associated with motion between the barge and the Wind Turbine Installation Vessel. This unique design idea to completely eliminate barge motions eradicates the need for expensive specialized feeder barges equipped with high-tech motion compensation equipment.
Increase WTIV Flexibility
With the growing number of offshore wind projects planned for the U.S. East Coast, the BargeRack is a Jones Act-compliant solution which allows foreign-flagged Wind Turbine Installation Vessels to install wind turbines in U.S. waters. The United States existing ocean barge fleet can be outfitted and utilized as feeder vessels, further reducing capital expenditure.
Utilize Experience
The BargeRack’s design is simple, safe, and inexpensive, and builds off Friede & Goldman’s decades of experience designing cantilevered drilling systems for offshore oil and gas projects. There are over 120 existing self-elevating vessels built to date utilizing Friede & Goldman’s designs operating in every major region of the world.
